The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints supplied one of the three (3) Information Technology labs at the Jonathan Grant High School with twenty-three computers and accessories and four (4) multi-media projectors.
At a project closing ceremony held on the school grounds on May 8, 2023, Principal Dr. O’Neil Ankle expressed gratitude to representatives of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for the generous donation and for fulfilling a role that the Ministry of Education was not able to do. He said that students would now be able to gain the necessary education that would enable them to be technologically savvy; and that the computers and projectors would make teaching and learning enjoyable.
Sean-Patrick Clayton, the second counselor in the Kingston Jamaica Stake Presidency, encouraged students to use the resources and excel in their schoolwork. He told students, “Choose your friends wisely, study hard, believe in yourselves, and love your principal and teachers.” “Do your best to focus on what matters most, your education; this will distinguish you from others.”
Andrew Miller, Bishop, Spanish Town Ward 1, “This donation will serve as an impetus for all, celebrate the power of education and use it to impact society positively”.
In his plea to students, Leroye Blake, Welfare/Self-Reliance manager, said, “Education is your way out of poverty, so make your time in school worthwhile.”
Elder Chris Sexton of LDS Charities shared that as children of Heavenly Father, we want to show our love through what we do and what His church does.
