Local Church Members Join National Agencies and Volunteers to Promote Environmental Stewardship in Trinidad and Tobago

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago — On September 20, 2025, members of the Port of Spain Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints joined the global effort known as the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), volunteering at the Foreshore to help remove litter and debris from the coastline.

The ICC is a worldwide initiative held every September, mobilizing thousands of volunteers to clean up shorelines, waterways, parks, and public spaces. In Trinidad and Tobago, this year’s event was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning, Economic Affairs & Development, the Institute of Marine Affairs (IMA), and the Environmental Management Authority (EMA). National coordination was led by the Caribbean Network for Integrated Rural Development.

By participating in this initiative, members of the Port of Spain Ward demonstrated their commitment to environmental stewardship, community service, and civic responsibility. Their efforts reflect the Church’s emphasis on caring for God’s creations and working alongside other organizations and citizens to improve the quality of life in their communities.

This act of service not only contributed to a cleaner coastline but also strengthened bonds between faith-based groups and national environmental agencies, showcasing the power of collaboration for the common good.
