On Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and May 26, 2024, the Mandeville District in the Jamaica Kingston Mission held its District Conference. President Arnold Odonkor, President of the Jamaica Kingston Mission, presided at the meetings. The theme for the conference was based on a scripture from the Book of Jacob in the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ. “Go to, and labor in the vineyard, with your might… and if ye labor with your might with me ye shall have joy in the fruit”. [Jacob 5:71]
Seventy-eight priesthood and auxiliary leaders gathered for Saturday’s Leadership Training Meeting. During the Saturday evening Leadership Training Meeting, the leaders were encouraged to support their Branch Presidents, and they will be asked by the Lord, as he did to Peter, “Do you love me?”
Four hundred and fifty members and friends attended the General Session on Sunday Morning. President Jason Piper, Mandeville District President, invited all to pray for and sustain their branch presidents, labor with the Lord in His work, and share the Gospel to bring joy into their lives.
President Latoya Watson, Mandeville District Relief Society President, taught that the Gospel is designed to help us all grow and come to Christ. She said, “It is not enough to settle for the ordinances of salvation. Heavenly Father expects us to return home to Him through the ordinances of exaltation.”
President Odonkor encouraged members to ask themselves this question: “What am I learning, and how am I becoming?” He stressed the importance of striving to be humble so we can more fully experience the power of the Holy Ghost.
